As long as his hair isn’t tangled, you can comb it wet or dry.

For dry scalp, you can try using pink hair lotion or olive or coconut oil. Baby oil will only clog the pores on his scalp and cause more dandruff.

My baby’s biracial, black and white. Her hair is still quite soft at 13 months. She never had a whole lot of hair, so we didn’t even need to comb it when she was 5-months but I see no reason not to. For dry scalp, just massage baby oil or olive oil on and then brush with a soft bristled brush. That’s what her pediatrician advised and it worked great. Sorry I can’t be of more help, but maybe try asking in the hair section.

use a natural oil on his hair for moister such as coconut or jojoba oil.(never baby oil or adult hair products) it is fine to comb his hair while its still wet.but make sure you comb it while it’s dry also so it won’t get tangled or matted

Presumably you don’t have African-American hair yourself? Before my husband and I were TTC, we were convinced we would have problems and might ultimately, adopt.

Long story short, I thought for a while that when I had a child, that child would not necessarily be white. And I wondered what I would do if I had an AA child and had to deal with his or her hair. I was walking in a neighborhood with a lot of salons and I realized that the easiest thing to do would be to go into one that did AA hair and pay someone to not only do the child’s hair but also teach me how to do it and recommend products.
